Hire a Murder Mystery Game Host

Murder Mystery Games can be tons of fun. But someone needs to host the game. This usually means you don't get to play, as someone needs to act as a referee, and you can't play if you already know the secrets. If you want to actually play the game yourself, and not just watch all your friends having fun, you can hire us to host the game for you.

We are based in Bettys Bay, Western Cape, so we are cheapest in the Overberg and Cape Town, but we will travel just about anywhere.

For this option, we provide both the game and a professional host to run it at your event. We handle all the preparation in advance: printing, packing of envelopes, and organizing the game materials, so you don’t have to worry about a thing. On the day, our host explains how the game works and acts as a referee throughout the evening. If players have questions, run into a problem, or want to attempt something unusual in the game, the host is there to guide them.

Please note: we do not provide the venue, food, décor, or costumes for your guests. Only the game, some basic prizes and a host to run the game for you.

We offer a wide variety of murder mystery games in many different themes, catering for anywhere from 6 players to 80+ players. Games typically run for 2–4 hours, depending on the group size and how involved your guests become. These are rich, interactive games filled with multiple subplots; perfect for people who enjoy role-play, dressing up, and immersing themselves in a character. Because there is some reading involved, guests should also be comfortable reading and absorbing information at the start of the game.

Here’s how it works: once everyone has arrived, each guest receives a character sheet outlining their character’s history, secrets, and goals. From that point, the game is unscripted. The players decide what to say and do to achieve their objectives, although they are usually given a few hints of who they really need to speak to. They are free to lie, cheat, blackmail, steal, or even sometimes “murder” if it suits their character’s style! Every game is unique, shaped entirely by the players’ choices.

We recommend serving finger foods rather than a sit-down meal, as guests will need to mingle and interact constantly throughout the evening (although we have also run our games between 3 course meals if you prefer). Costume suggestions are provided in advance, but we may need to adjust roles on the night if the player of a main character doesn’t arrive for some reason. For the best experience, it helps to have a fairly even split of male and female players, as some roles are gender-specific (though we also offer all-female and LGBTQ+ variants, as well as 'clean' versions suitable for teenagers for certain games).

Because murder mystery games take time to prepare, we require at least one week’s notice, preferably two, in order to get everything ready in time for your event.
